Why do we do the things that we do?

We aren't just called to live in the world as God's forgiven people.  Far more important to live out the rest of our calling, and live as God's Forgiving people.

The raising of Lazarus is a story that doesn't just prefigure the resurrection of Jesus.  It is a call for us to "Come out!",  to step away from the things that keep us from living fully. Jesus calls us from our desolation to live.

Who will you follow: The Clash of the Kingdom of God, and the Empire

Jesus' Triumphal entry into Jerusalem says so much more than we can find taking it at face value.  We need to hear it in its 1st century Jewish context. This podcast looks at the roots of that story so that we can see why the Empire and the temple authorities know on Palm Sunday, that this itinerant Jewish Rabbi from the countryside is too dangerous, and must die.

Faith; A Journey, not a Destination

As Cleopas and his Companion walk the road to Emmaus on the first Easter,  they walk with a stranger.  Later they realize that the stranger was indeed Jesus.  As we walk the journey of faith, there are times when God sends us the assurances that we are not walking the way alone, but the Jesus walks the road with us as well. And our "hearts burn within us" in those moments.

The story of Thomas' doubt is not a story of judgement on our doubts,  but a loud and clear declaration of the enormity of God's love.  Doubt is not the opposite of faith, it is the means by which our faith grows and develops.  Fear is the opposite of faith.
